QED Naval and Logan Energy named in list
Two of Kelvin Capital’s portfolio companies were recently named in a list of top companies in the energy sector to work for. QED Naval and Logan Energy were selected due to the innovative way they are setting out to disrupt the Energy industry.
QED Naval are aiming to enable tidal energy to be a valued part of the renewable energy mix having a tangible impact on climate change, promoting clean oceans and having a positive impact on marine life.
Their SUBHUB tidal platform was created to support every stage of a tidal turbine’s life cycle, from integration, installation and retrieval for maintenance and finally, decommissioning. QED Naval’s SUBHUB cuts installation and maintenance costs significantly, as well as enhancing tidal site yield by up to 48%. The simplistic process has low impact on seascape, sea bed and marine life.
Logan Energy design, install, commission and maintain integrated energy solutions across the UK and Europe. Major projects include 20 Fenchurch Street in London, a £300m iconic development by Land Securities and Canary Wharf Group. Logan Energy designed and installed a 300kW fuel cell CCHP system which facilitated planning permissions by saving 8% carbon dioxide emissions on building regulations.
Most recently, Logan Energy have collaborated with Translink, Northern Irelands largest public transport provider to manufacture and supply a hydrogen fuel cell bus refueller. Translink will use the fuelling station to fuel three double decker hydrogen fuelled buses that will serve routes in Belfast, with the primary objective being to grow the number of fuel cell vehicles on UK roads.
